UFC 246: Cerrone v McGregor Betting Guide
Whether you’re a Conor McGregor fan or not, there’s no denying he’s the biggest name in mixed martial arts. So when he makes his return to the Octagon on Saturday for UFC 246’s main event against veteran Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, you’d better believe it’s the biggest fight the Ultimate Fighting Championship has seen in a very long time. McGregor says this fight will just be the beginning of his “season” and that he plans to be very active this year, with three or four bouts. That type of activity wouldn’t be foreign to Cerrone, whose 22 victories are the most in the organization’s history, but McGregor has just one MMA fight since 2017 – a loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone vs. “The Notorious” Conor McGregor Betting Odds
McGregor opened as a -215 favourite, although those odds didn’t last long. The line ballooned to make the Irishman north of a -300 chalk before moving back to -295 days before the bout. That means you’d have to risk $295 on a McGregor wager to win $100 if he can pull it off. On the other hand, betting $100 on Cowboy to score the upset would earn you $195 on top of your original wager. At this point, it’s hard to know where the line will settle.
Cowboy Cerrone vs. Conor McGregor Betting Props
Cerrone has seen more betting support recently, although McGregor supporters could weigh in as the fight nears. The fight is scheduled for five rounds with the over/under set at 2.5 rounds (Under -225), while the biggest favourite on the Method of Victory board is a McGregor knockout at -175. You can also bet specifically on who will win and in which round. McGregor to win in the first round is priced at +200 and at +450 to win in the second. If you’re shopping for an upset ticket, you may want to look at Cerrone weathering the storm to win later in the fight. Cowboy is at +1600 to win the fourth round, +2000 to win in the fifth round, and at +650 to win in a decision.
McGregor vs. Cowboy Predictions
There are two schools of thought here – either they both come out swinging and the fight is over in the first two rounds, or it turns into a long war in the Octagon. Our bet is McGregor wins, but if you’re looking for value there’s definitely more than enough reason to bet on Cerrone to score the upset. Take McGregor to win a decision at (+775) or the Irishman to win in the fourth round (+1400) if you’re looking for lottery tickets.
