Cheick Kongo vs Paul Buentello Fight Prediction – UFC on Versus 1

PAUL BUENTELLO vs. CHEICK KONGO

Fight Overview:  Two huge punchers with suspect chins makes this fight an almost sure thing for Knockout of the Night, and a loss for Buentello could see him out of the UFC again.

Buentello's Strengths:  Buentello has one strength, and that is punching power, but he has got a surplus of it.

Buentello's Weaknesses:  He is not very fast, does not have great technique, has a questionable chin, and is usually in pretty terrible shape.  He also lacks anything remotely resembling a ground game.

Kongo's Strengths:  Kongo has great striking, vicious ground and pound, and is in good shape, especially for a heavyweight.

Kongo's Weaknessess:  Like Buentello, Kongo's chin is suspect.

The Verdict:  Both men are almost guaranteed to keep this fight standing, and Kongo has faster hands, better technique, and way better cardio.  Buentello has a chance against anyone in the world with his punching power, but this is going to be a kickboxing match and Kongo is easily the more skilled kickboxer, so the safe money is on an early knockout.
