KENDALL GROVE vs. MARK MUNOZ

Fight Overview:  Powerhouse striker and national wrestling champion Mark Munoz faces his toughest test yet in the form of Hawaiian grappler and Muay Thai fighter Kendall Grove.

Munoz’s Strengths:  Munoz has a lot of knockout power and really effective wrestling and top control.

Munoz’s Weaknesses:  He has not fought a very high level of competition and his submission defense is very untested.  Plus he has been knocked out by a far less dangerous striker than Grove.

Grove’s Strengths:  He has great Muay Thai, great reach, and really effective and strange submissions.

Grove’s Weaknesses:  His takedown defense is not very good and he is prone to getting knocked out.

The Verdict:  The stylistic edge has to go to Munoz, who has the wrestling and punching power to exploit Grove’s weaknesses.  It is hard to underestimate how much different Grove’s reach and style make it to prepare for him, though.  It is also worth noting that Munoz’s submission defense has never really been tested, and certainly not in the way that Grove is capable of doing.  I think that combination of height and submissions make Grove a very attractive underdog pick.  Grove by submission.
