Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman Fight Prediction – UFC 109

MARK COLEMAN vs. RANDY COUTURE

Fight Overview:  Two Hall of Famers, and arguably the two most dominant Heavyweights in UFC history, will finally meet after over a decade of anticipation, with a potential Light Heavyweight title shot on the line for Couture.

Couture’s Strengths:  Couture has a great clinch game, with good takedowns from the clinch and punishing dirty boxing.  He also has powerful punching that can end a fight and great cardio.

Couture’s Weaknesses:  Couture’s boxing isn’t great, and he seems to have lost a step from his prime.

Coleman’s Strengths:  Coleman has underrated, solid boxing and dominant wrestling.

Coleman’s Weaknesses:  Coleman’s style is very predictable.  More importantly, his cardio is notorious for failing on him.

The Verdict:  Two similar fighters.  Coleman is very underrated, and Couture is perhaps slightly overrated, but Coleman’s gas tank will most likely fail him yet again, and Couture will earn the decision win.  Coleman is a sizable underdog in the betting, though, and so a small bet might not be a bad idea in a fight neither man is likely to finish.

Prediction:  Randy "The Natural" Couture by decision.
