Duane Ludwig vs Jim Miller Fight Prediction – UFC 108

JIM MILLER vs. DUANE LUDWIG

 Fight Overview:  One of the Lightweight division’s most efficient grapplers, Jim Miller, will face one of its most dangerous strikers in Duane “Bang” Ludwig.  Ludwig overmatches Miller completely on the feet, but Miller has perhaps an even bigger edge in the ground game, so this should be an exciting fight to say the least.

 Miller’s Strengths:  Miller has good boxing, good wrestling, and excellent submissions.  He is also in very good shape, and has had a full training camp to prepare and get in top condition.

 Miller’s Weaknesses:  It is not really a “weakness”, but Ludwig is literally the stylistic opposite of the two men Miller originally trained for, Tyson Griffin and Sean Sherk.  Spending most of your camp training for dominant wrestlers and then having to fight a dominant kickboxer can throw a wrench in your plans.

 Ludwig’s Strengths:  Offensively speaking, Ludwig’s striking is unmatched at 155 in the entire sport of Mixed Martial Arts.  He not only has superior power, footwork, technique, accuracy, and handspeed, he puts it all together better than anyone else in the sport.

 Ludwig’s Weaknesses:  Ludwig’s chin is reminiscent of Glass Joe’s from Punch Out, and his ground game basically does not exist.  He is the proverbial glass cannon, who will come out throwing and, if he can’t put his opponent down rapidly, will get overwhelmed easily.

 The Verdict:  As amazing as Ludwig’s standup is, Miller is going to be way too much for him on the ground.  Miller will have no problem whatsoever taking Ludwig down, and once he does it is good night, sweet prince, as Ludwig will tap or nap within a minute.

Prediction:  Jim Miller by first round ground & pound.
