Fight Overview: An interesting rematch. Le destroyed Smith for 2 and a half rounds in their first contest before being knocked out cold with a huge punch. Will Le finish the job this time, or will Smith’s chin and power let him pull off another miracle?
Smith’s Strengths: Smith has one of the best chins in the history of the sport, and a ridiculous surplus of punching power.
Smith’s Weaknesses: He is not the most technical striker, and depends on huge shots rather than combos. He also doesn’t have much wrestling or ground game.
Le’s Strengths: Le is an extremely formidable striker, with great punches and kicks and the ability to string them together into lethal combos. He also has a very solid double leg takedown.
Le’s Weaknesses: He lacks the kind of power Smith brings to the table, so he is going to have to just keep pouring on punishment again while trying to avoid another knockout loss.
The Verdict: I just don’t see Smith being able to recreate his come from behind knockout. Le proved that he has what it takes to punch Le around all over the ring in their first fight, and counting on Smith to miraculously survive again and land another one-punch fight ending knockout seems like a huge stretch.
